Micro-needling and radio frequency Skin tightening with the Morpheus8
Morpheus 8 (also known as the Fractora) is a radiofrequency (RF) needling device that is used for micro needling, radiofrequency tightening, and fractional resurfacing for skin rejuvenation, tightening and remodelling.
It is a non-invasive procedure carried out under topical anaesthesia for comfort, and delivers RF energy in a novel and much more effective way than previously possible. To date, all energy devices (RF, Laser, Ultrasonic) could only deliver energy to the skin surface thus limiting their effectiveness.
The Morpheus 8 / Fractora handpieces have pins that vary from 0.5mm to as far as 4mm reach under the skin surface to deliver the energy precisely and accurately at the depth where it is most effective and in the dose that will deliver the best results possible. We can thus influence and improve all levels from the subdermal fat layers where fat removal and tightening is desired, the subdermal layers for 3-dimensional contraction and lifting/tightening, the dermis itself for skin firming and additional collagen production, and in the superficial dermis as a radiofrequency fractional resurfacing for improving skin tone, sun damage and fine lines.
M8 technology combines micro-needling with radiofrequency energy delivered in a unique way through the pins at the depth and the energy levels that give the best results possible today. Micro-needling alone induces repair processes with additional collagen production but it is the addition of the RF that produces the very significant tightening and contraction of the tissues at all levels. Results are greatly enhanced with the RF.
The commonest areas are the face and neck but any area that requires skin tightening and rejuvenation can be treated. Examples are tummy laxity including “mummy tummies”, the inner arms, the “bra folds” in the front of the armpits, the back of the hands, skin crepiness above the knees, sun damage and crepiness on the chest, and many other indications.
Most people can be treated safely, comfortably and effectively but there are some medical contraindications to the use of RF generally, such as if you have an implanted pacemaker, that may make the treatment inappropriate so a medical consultation is important for proper assessment. In these exceptional cases we will discuss alternative treatment for you.
After the treatment you will notice tissue tightening and improved skin texture, however, the good news is that results continue to develop progressively over the following weeks and months! There is well documented evidence that the tightening and contraction of tissues continues for 12 months or more. Overseas experience indicates that because we are producing positive structural changes both under and inside the skin layers the results are very long-lasting, in the order of months to years!
The treatment can be carried out in two versions, the “light Protocol” and the “Strong Protocol”
The Light Protocol procedure suits most people and is carried out comfortably with topical anaesthetic cream alone.
The Stronger Protocol applies higher energy level for deeper and more intense results where indicated and usually requires some local anaesthetic. Sedation is not generally required but is available for those who wish it.
Downtime is negligible and consists of some redness that may last 1-2 days for the Light Protocol and 2-4 days for the Stronger Protocol.
