Acne is primarily related to the enlargement and hyperactivity of the sebaceous glands (oil producing glands) resulting in excessive oil secretion and congestion of these follicles. Infection then occurs with the acne bacteria which proliferate in this oil rich environment, forming pustules leading eventually to dermal scarring (acne scars).

Minimal. The treatment is very well tolerated. Generally, there is redness and possibly some puffiness of the skin that evening, reducing overnight to a mild redness which clears over the next two days. Many will time their treatment for a Friday enabling them to return to work looking fresh by Monday.
