Any person from 18 – 70+ can have their lines and wrinkles of the upper face treated. this may include the treatment of frown lines (between the eyes), ‘crows feet’ (lines on the sides of the eyes) and horizontal brow lines. These are people who do not like the ageing look that these lines form or who have a stressed, cranky, or tired look when they don’t really feel that way. As the treatment is simple, safe and has proven results, there is no need to take any time off work.
There is no need for any preparation or for any anesthetic, the muscles to be treated are accurately located and the medication is injected into them using a fine needle. During your initial consultation, we will discuss with you how the treatment will be carried out.
Patients are instructed not to massage or rub or wipe the area vigorously within 4 hours because it is injected specifically into certain muscles and we don’t want it to disperse from the localised area.
If the patient is a first-timer, they may not see anything for 10 to 14 days. However, for people who come back for subsequent injections, it often kicks in within a few days. There are just minor side effects such as possible bruising with the first treatment. Some people feel a mild, dull heaviness in the area that has been injected and this may last for several hours. This should not recur with subsequent treatments. Allergy and reactions to the product are extremely rare.
Most results last between 4 to 5 months, however, this varies between patients as you may get longer or shorter duration. With the first treatment you should expect only 3 months and then this extends with further treatments.
Wrinkle filling injections (called dermal fillers) work by filling in lines but when you contract your muscles you can still recreate the lines. Wrinkle smoothing injections soften lines by relaxing the muscles that cause them. By preventing future creasing it allows the lines to fill in with your own natural tissue and fade over time, achieving even better results. For heavy lines, wrinkle-smoothing and wrinkle filling injections can be combined for best results.
